Roblox game pass icon maker

A Roblox game pass icon must be 512x512 pixels or smaller, and Roblox displays it inside the circle inscribed in that square - everything outside that circle is thrown away. That leaves a safe area of 70% of the width (362x362 px at 512), and the whole subject has to sit inside it. Nexframe generates the icon and does the circular crop in your browser, exporting a 512x512 PNG with transparent corners.

What gets generated: a square, background running to all four corners.

What Roblox keeps: the inscribed circle. The corners are gone - here they are transparent.

What Roblox requires

Make sure the image doesn't exceed 512x512 pixels, doesn't include important details outside of its circular boundaries, and is in .jpg, .png, or .bmp format.

Why the corners are thrown away

The circle Roblox displays is inscribed in the square: it touches the middle of each side, so the four corners fall outside it. The largest square that survives the crop completely is therefore the square inscribed in that circle, and its side is the diameter divided by the square root of two:

side = width / sqrt(2) = width x 0.7071
at 512 px: 512 x 0.7071 = 362 px

You can check that with a ruler on the two images above. Nexframe writes 70% into the generation instructions rather than 70.7% - it rounds down, so the rounding is never the thing that costs you a corner of the subject.

Where it shows, and how small

The pass populates in the Store tab of the game details page.

Roblox Creator Hub - Passes, "Sell a pass". Checked 2026-10-02.

You upload at 512x512, but that is not the size people see. Roblox's own thumbnail API serves game pass icons at exactly one size, 150x150 pixels. At that size the safe square inside the circle is about 106 px a side - so one big, simple shape reads, and fine detail or small text does not.

Roblox Thumbnails API - GET /v1/game-passes (size: 150x150 is the only value). Checked 2026-10-02.

Checklist before you upload

  1. 01Keep the whole subject inside the central 70% - a 358x358 box at 512. The corners belong to the background.
  2. 02Export at 512x512 or smaller. That is the ceiling Roblox publishes, and detail beyond it is thrown away on the way in.
  3. 03One subject, centred. Two things competing means neither one reads at icon size.
  4. 04No text. Letters turn into noise long before the icon reaches its display size.
  5. 05Let the background run to all four edges. A background that fills the square looks right whether the surface crops it to a circle or shows it square - a white corner only looks right in one of the two.

Launching? Do the whole set at once

Nobody ships one pass. A launch usually means eight, ten, twelve of them, and every one needs its own icon under the same rule. Nexframe takes one line per pass and runs them one at a time, in a single style, so the set looks like a set instead of 10 unrelated pictures.

10 passes x $0.0336 = $0.336
about 32 seconds, one style for all of them

The price is Google's, billed on your own key, and it is the same per icon whether you make one or twelve - there is no bulk discount to invent and none to hide. The timing is measured, not estimated: a real batch of 3 took 9.7 seconds end to end. If one icon fails, the others carry on and you can retry just that line, without paying again for the ones that already came out.

Make one

  1. Step 01

    Describe what the pass gives

Type what the buyer gets - a glowing double-jump boot, a pet dragon, a speed potion. One object, not a scene: the icon is read at a glance.

  2. Step 02

    Pick a style

Six background treatments, from a golden burst to a chrome finish. They set the light and the backdrop; the object always comes from what you typed.

  3. Step 03

    Generate

The icon is generated square at 1024x1024, on your own Google Gemini key, with the safe area already written into the instructions.

  4. Step 04

    Download the 512x512 PNG

Your browser crops the circle and exports a 512x512 PNG with transparent corners. Nothing is uploaded anywhere to do it.

  5. Step 05

    Upload it to your pass

In the Roblox Creator Hub, create the pass and upload the PNG as its icon.

Questions

What size is a Roblox game pass icon?

Upload it at 512x512 pixels or smaller, as .jpg, .png or .bmp. Roblox shows it inside the circle inscribed in that square, and its own thumbnail API serves game pass icons at 150x150.

Why is my game pass icon cut off?

Because Roblox crops it to a circle, and the four corners of the square fall outside it. Keep the whole subject inside the central 70.7% of the width - 362x362 px at 512.

Is a game pass icon the same as a game icon?

No. The experience icon has a minimum size (square, at least 512x512); the pass icon has a maximum (512x512), and only the pass icon is documented with a circular boundary. Make them as two images.

Can I make all my game pass icons at once?

Yes. Nexframe takes one line per pass and generates them one at a time in a single style, so the set looks like a set. If one fails, you retry just that line.

Generation runs on your own Google key.

You paste a Gemini API key once and Google bills you directly for what you generate, at their list price - there is no per-image markup from us, and the key is never stored. The trial is 3 days with 3 generations a day, and Nexframe charges nothing for it (the terms).
